I reread Ben’s last few letters, and I thought about Brian, Jimmy, and Cassie. When the summer began, it looked as if my summer would be filled with romance, but it just didn’t work out that way. Don’t get me wrong; it was great! I became even closer with Brian and Jimmy, which just made it harder for me to decide whether or not I wanted to go out with Jimmy. Now, I waited too long, and he is about to go on a date with Cassie. She told me on the way home that they are going out on Saturday. I told her “That’s great!” and I acted like I was happy for her, but I can’t help feeling sad about the whole thing.

I really like Cassie and we’ve become pretty close over the summer, I just never imagined she would end up crushing on Jimmy, and I never considered what my reaction would be if she did.

Oh well… Maybe I should take Brian up on his offer to take things slow, and see how my parents feel about me going on a date with him. I think enough time has passed, that they will be okay with it. It has been almost a whole year since we last tried to date.
