Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly Tuesday meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
The prompt for this week is Top Ten Tips for New (Book) Bloggers!
1. Don't overload yourself: I'm a new blogger myself and when I first started, I got excited about Netgalley and getting review copies. I took wayyy too much on a once. Be excited, but don't overextend yourself!
2. Have fun: Writing about what you love should be fun. Find ways to make sure it never becomes a chore!
3. Don't worry about how many followers or reviews you have: High numbers come with time. Don't try to force it!
4. Be you: Blog what you want to blog. Incorporate yourself in your reviews and memes!
5. Follow other blogs: Don't copy their work, but form your own ideas about what to do with your blog from others that you enjoy!
6. Be a part of the book community: Go to book signings and lectures! Have fun and show it on your blog!
7. Post your reviews on places besides your blog: Posting in other places will help the books, the authors and you! You can get new followers and authors will really appreciate it!
8. Pimp yourself out: On that note, don't overdo it, but it's not a sin to show others your blog by posting about it on different social networking sites!
9. Be honest: You'll get nowhere by faking love or hate for a book. If you like it and others don't, big deal. If you don't like it and others do, so what? Buyers appreciate bad reviews as much as they appreciate good ones.
10. Make friends: Support in the community will really help if you get stressed, tired or start to lost interest in book or blogging. Friends will help you find your way back to the light, or advice you to do what will be best for you!
Ah, NetGalley. I requested a little too much at first too, but then realized that this whole ARC hunting thing wasn't really for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat list. :)

Hi Emily,
ReplyDeleteGreat tips! I let myself get overloaded once in a while. It's good to know I'm not the only one.
