I love how authors take a classic paranormal creature, like vampires, and twist them to be a vampire, yet something completely different at the same time. :D

I love how the best paranormal reads have a new spin on all the paranormal creatures. Since there are so many out there now, it becomes more of a challenge for authors to create a new take on the paranormal genre - I find the original reads to be the best.

ReplyDeleteWhat isn't there to love about paranormal novels? The characterization, the different types of beings/creatures, the way the stories suck you in (though that's true of most books I read)...paranormal novels are amazing.

And I love vampires and witches, etc and how else can I pretend to be one of them or being around them then to read about them. ReplyDeleteI like paranormal reads for the same reason I like fantasy. Ever since I was a tiny girl, I was creating alternate realities, bringing creatures from fantasy and folklore into a place where I could interact with them and not have to worry about that pesky, harsh reality. That's really what it's about for me--exercising imagination and utilizing escapism because my reality stinks. It's why I write in the genre, too.

ReplyDeleteI love paranormal stories because they offer such a wide variety of options for otherwise impossible things to happen. For me, one of the best things about reading is the escape it offers. Paranormal stories are great for that.
