The Last Hour by Charles Sheehan-Miles was like riding a tilt-a-whirl in every way imaginable. I finished it over a week ago and I still am thinking about it. The emotions it provoked in me were so intense and the ending was the definition of bitter sweet endings. It was such a haunting and beautiful story and I'm now telling everyone I know they need to read it. One minute I was so happy with what was going on between Carrie and Ray, the two main characters, and so full of love. The next minute I was crying and wishing I could help them some how. I repeat, an emotional tilt-a-whirl.
ReplyDeleteThe Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa, well let's just say, when did the story slow down? From the very beginning it was a BANG and it just didn't stop! It was heart thumping as you go through all the trials and problems that Allison had to undergo in her world.
ReplyDeleteThe last book which I read which made me feel as if I was on a tilt a whirl was definitely Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. That book had a lots of twists and turns which I so did not see coming! Wolf and Scarlet's relationship had a ton of ups and downs when new secrets kept being unraveled. It was fantastic tilt a whirl worthy read :)

The Last Academy by Anne Applegate. I was completely blindsided by the ending, and I literally sat there for like 5 minutes just staring at the pages - I couldn't believe it!
ReplyDeleteShadowlands definitely had me reeling. Did not expect the ending AT ALL. It was probably the last thing I would have guessed!
ReplyDeletenaralee94(at)hotmail(dot)com
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein is a YA historical fiction set in WWII. It's about two best friends, and the mc is a Scottish spy who's been caught by the Germans. She's going to spill everything she knows about the British war effort to them... and she does it by writing about Maddie. It's absolutely mind-blowingly intense and you will never guess the ending!
ReplyDeleteI think the last book that made me feel like I was on a tilt a whirl was Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout. That book had my emotions all over the place.
ReplyDeletebooklovingme AT gmail DOT com
The last book that made me feel like I was on a tilt-a-whirl was Mila 2.0 by Debra Driza! The last book that left me breathless was Unbreakable by: Elizabeth Norris! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletethroughthelookingglassreviews(AT)hotmail(dot)com
Right now I'm reading the Infernal Devices...the twist so far was the trick curse that Will believed for 5 years.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised by Shadowlands, too. And I usually see that kind of thing coming!
ReplyDeletegillysegal at gmail dot com
I think the last book that really had a twist that I wasn't ready for was when I read 17 & Gone. I was so confused throughout the entire book, trying to figure out what exactly was going on, and once I got to the end and this twist was revealed the pieces started clicking in place and I appreciated the story so much more. It's crazy sometimes how the twist can make or break a story.

Jellicoe Road. That book left me breathless with all its twists and turns and revelations that are so heartbreaking yet so beautiful. :)
ReplyDeletejulierimpula@ yahoo. com
The last book I read that made me feel like I was on a Tilt-A-Whirl would definitely have to be A Dance with Dragons. There were so many things that happened that left my heart beat quicken and make me want to sling my book. There were people dying, people being betrayed, people I hate getting shamed. It was just great! It is a series worth reading. Thank you for this amazing giveaway!!
ReplyDeletetwnkeez@hotmail.com
The last book i read that made me feel like I was on a Tilt-a-whirl was You Are Mine by Janeal Falor. The main character Serena had so many ups and downs and had to always be n alert for any punishments that may come her way. It was an emotional rollercoaster for sure!

How fitting! I just finished Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo and that books was the definition of a tilt-a-whirl for me! I was all content with the path I was on then bam! Out of nowhere I'm turned upside down with all the twist and turns! It was great!
ReplyDeleteI read the two Marbury Lens books and holy cow! Those things are freaky! But for some strange reason I loved them!
ReplyDeleteoreo_93 at hotmail dot com
I'd say Apollyon by Jennifer L Armentrout because so much happens in the last few chapters that I wasn't suspecting and I got to the end and was thought there was a mistake. Surely she couldn't end it without answering some of our questions! I can't wait for the final book in the series.
ReplyDeleteProbably Game by Barry Lyga because of the rawness of the story and the fact that the villains of the story scare you half to death.
ReplyDeleteTwilighter21@netzero.net
I loved Every Day by David Levithan! It made me feel like I was on a tilt-a-whirl and it was full of surprises because the main character wakes up in a different body every day! Thanks for this amazing giveaway - I would love to win!

The last book I read that made me feel like I was on a tilt a whirl was Life After Life. You never knew what was coming next. The story was filled with twists and turns. It was also Very different from anything else I have ever read.

Between These Lines by Jennifer Murgia, Had a completely out of the blue ending that left me in tears and asking why?
ReplyDeleteStarshadow.blog@gmail.com
Definitely The Darkest Minds by A. Bracken and Shadowlands by Kate Brian. The Darkest Minds was perfect because we got clues throughout, enough to make it believable, but it was something we'd never think was possible. Shadowlands because the whole concept of the book happened at the very end and it changed everything:))
ReplyDeleteThank you:)

Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover. I think it may have just been me but I know I was crying and holding my breath and smiling and everything :) I can't wait to read the next book :D
ReplyDeletehippiegirl12@gmail.com
The darkest minds by Alexandra Bracken I loved this book because of the twists and turns. You couldn't rust anyone and some people were bad without even meaning to be. The main character was also perfect but not in a unrealistic was. She had her fears and concerns and they made her do the wrong things at times but for the most important decisions she thought about what was best for others. The plot was also very enjoyable to me.
ReplyDeletelittlewizzo@gmail.com
This Girl by Colleen Hoover! Colleen has a way of writing that just keeps you on the edge of your seat and twist your emotions! I love it!
ReplyDeletemmafsmith AT gmail DOT com
I'm reading Eleanor & Park right now and although it's not the type of book that would make everyone breathless, and there's not really any incredible surprises, but a handful of scenes throughout the book definitely made my heart race! :) Thanks for the giveaway!

The last book that made me feel like I was on a tilt-a-whirl was definitely The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. Such an amazing book that has everything in one - action, humor and a lovely romance. Also, the ending left me with pounding in my heart and in a serious need of tissues, totally something I wasn't expecting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a giveaway! :)
The last book that took me through a tilt-a-whirl was Emblaze by Jessica Shirvington. I can't say why with out giving a spoiler, but OH MY GOD! Lots of gasping, lots of yelling. My boyfriend thought I had lost my mind. Which I kind of was.
ReplyDelete~Andrea @ Beauty but a Funny Girl
The last book I read that left me feeling like I was on a tilt-a-whirl was REQUIEM by Lauren Oliver. So many surprises in that book!
ReplyDeleteyabookqueen(at)yahoo.com
The last book that left me on a loop, that surprised me, was A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. Even though I had seen the season 1 of the series before and knew what was going to happen, reading about it was more intense. Really looking forward to reading the second book now.
ReplyDeleteanonymousaficionados(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk
The last book made me feel like I was on a tilt-a-whirl was Angelfall by Susan Ee! That book - I saw none of it coming, honestly. So many creepy things kept happening and I never knew what was going to happen next!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway :)

I'm gonna have to go with Deity by Jennifer L Armentrout. So many things were going on at once and things were not what they seemed and everything seemed impossible and the world was against Alex and it seemed like there was no hope for anything, and just writing this makes me want to start on Apollyon already!! But that's my next read, so soon. Very soon.
ReplyDeleteIf I should die by Amy Plum, the whole thing was just amazing. Can't say anything more or it will spoil.
ReplyDeletemoiraethefatesATgmailDOTcom
Probably Breaking Point by Kristen Simmons. There was so much going on and changing throughout the book that I just couldn't put it down!
ReplyDeletecatiesmoviesinmyhead at gmail dot com
Definitely The 5th Wave. So much adrenaline and heart-pounding action, and PLENTY of twists and turns in the plot. I couldn't go 20 pages without freaking out about something, whether that something was really good or REALLY bad. The emotions were everywhere.
ReplyDeletejnikkireads at gmail
Catching Fire's twists and turns had my heart racing. I never saw what they did with the victors coming. It was definitely like a tilt-a-whirl ride. sarabiadanielle@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteVery few books leave me feeling like I'm on a tilt-a-whirl, because I'm pretty good at figuring out where the plot is going. However, I recently read Gone by Michael Grant and definitely lots of actions, twists, and more action in that book!
ReplyDeletestormydawnc at gmail dot com
I would have to go with Deity by Jennifer Armentrout. Many things happen within the book and all you can think is what is going to happen to Alex. The action and twists in the book really move the plot. Then at the ending you can not believe what just happened and can't wait for the next book to come out.
ReplyDeletegiaochaunguyen97@gmail.com
The last book that left me reeling was SIEGE AND STORM by Leigh Bardugo. It's an arc, so I can't say much. But the ending comes out to deliver twist after twist. It was so awesome!

I just finished reading Prodigy by Marie Lu...holey moley!! I flew through the last third of the book and was thrown through so many loops. The last one I read that made me go all "SDKJFSDKFAKJSJF" that's me spazzing by the way, was Cadet of Tildor by Alex Lidell.
ReplyDeleteI start off hating the main man. And loving the best friend.
Then I hate the best friend. Love the little boy (another character), kind of meh towards the main man.
Then I hate the headmaster, hate the bestfriend, hate the main man, and want to cuddle the little boy.
Then I hate the best friend, love the main man, and still want the little boy to cuddle.
FINALLY I come to terms with the best friend is just a jerk but he cannot help it, the main man is a jerk, but it is sexy on him. The headmaster was just doing what he had to, and the little boy...well I just want to cuddle him some more.
SEE ITS SO COMPLICATED!

I just finished Sneak by Evan Angler today, and it was wayyy better than the first book in the series (Swipe). Much more fast-paced, and just altogether better written. It sucked me in.

The last book I read that was crazy was Genesis by Bernard Beckett. It is an amazing book and the end blew me away. I am going to copy the description so I don't give anything away:
ReplyDeleteAnax thinks she knows history. Her grueling all-day Examination has just begun, and if she passes, she’ll be admitted into the Academy—the elite governing institution of her utopian society. But Anax is about to discover that for all her learning, the history she’s been taught isn’t the whole story. And the Academy isn’t what she believes it to be. In this brilliant novel of dazzling ingenuity, Anax’s examination leads us into a future where we are confronted with unresolved questions raised by science and philosophy. Centuries old, these questions have gained new urgency in the face of rapidly developing technology. What is consciousness? What makes us human? If artificial intelligence were developed to a high enough capability, what special status could humanity still claim

Last book I read like that? Of Triton by Anna Banks. I felt there was that feeling because what I suspected did happen, yet at the same time, I felt it was too obvious, but when it did, I was blown away. And the way it happend was awesome.
ReplyDeletethunter_5@yahoo.com
Ooohh... Hmmm. I guess the last book that made me feel breathless was Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. It didn't have a huge twist, but it definitely wrenched at my heart strings all the way through and one could describe the experience as being on a tilt-a-whirl. So good. :)

Without a doubt, The Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. That ending. That whole story. That ending. Once again, that ending.

Firstly, City of Bones. Everything as woah!!! Because everything was nearly real, and everything just hit me like a true shoot. It was such an awesome feeling. And that book is great.
ReplyDeleteAnd for second question. Divergent. WOOOWW!! I couldn't breath at all. I didn't knew what could happen on next page and I almost forgot that I must keep myself alive to discover what's there.
The last Tilt-a-whirl book for me would be a tie: Divergent & Daughter of Smoke and Bone. My feelings were all over the place, there were quite a few moments of holding my breath, waiting to see what was next. :)

My choice would be Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. That book was so twisted! I thought I had it figured out so many times and she just kept the surprises coming.
ReplyDeleteasdidonato77(at)yahoo(dot)com
The Forest of Hands and Teeth! I was breathless and could not put it down. Not only was the action non-stop, so much of it involved physics and I kept trying to imagine how those events could happen like that, and getting dizzy trying.
ReplyDeletebethwade1 at gmail dot com
Probably the Fault in Our Stars. Everyone kept saying how it'll make me weep and all that and that wasn't true for most of the book but when I got to THAT PART, I just immediately cried buckets. IT WAS CRAZY!!!! I felt like I was riding this huge emotional rollercoaster.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to go with The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd. I mean, you could kinda tell how it was going on (I haven't actually read The Island of Dr. Moreau), but the way it got there and the actual ending just left me reeling.

I'd say Uncommon Criminals. All the Ally Carter books really. She has an amazing imagination and a true talent for twists and turns. There's always some mystery the protagonists are trying to solve, and it always ends up unraveling in the most unexpected way. Sometimes, it seems like everything has gone to s**t, but then some new twists happen that you can't help but love and BAAMM, everything's different now. Love all her endings. :P

ReplyDeletebridget.howard(at)hotmail(dot)com
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein would be my pick~ The book took place during world war two, about two friends, a spy and a pilot and their friendship. They were separated, one was captured, and both don't know if the other is alive... It was suspenseful until almost the end... It was a really good book, and had my mind going around in circles~
ReplyDeleteI just finished The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa and completely and utterly blew me away. It was all twisty and turny, a little predictably but so amazingly written that I didn't even care! On Thin Ice by Linda Hall. It is a love inspired mystery suspense and i was completely sucked in it from the first page the mystery of the murders and the reason of the broken marriage of the lead was amazing i was sad for the lead pair because though they have love for each other still they are apart and whenever they were together it made me jump with excitement that they are working together on the mystery

There have been 2 recently that blew me away, made my jaw drop, and the tears flow. The first one is If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch. There is not much that I can say, really. The whole book was incredible emotional, stressful, painful. HOPEFUL. But that ending? I almost threw up, the pain that I felt was so strong. This is not a book to be missed. But be prepared!
ReplyDeleteThe second book is Dark Triumph. You've read it, you get it! The life that Sybella lead, d'Albret, her brothers. What that girl went through. And then when she remembered and told Beast (the AMAZING, wonderful, perfect Beast) her story, I could hardly breathe, and I was so dang angry. There have been several books that have gotten me this year, but those two definitely stand out!
